Daily Devotion: Complete in Christ Week Nine, Day Five

Reading: John 15:1–11

Devotion

Jesus gives us one of the clearest pictures of what it means to remain connected to Him. He says, “I am the vine; you are the branches.” A branch does not produce fruit by trying harder to become a vine. It produces fruit by remaining connected to the vine.

This is the answer to the false teaching Paul addresses in Colossians. When someone tells us that we need something beyond Christ, we don't need to chase after every new teaching or religious practice. We need to remain in Christ. The Christian life isn't about constantly searching for something new that will make us more spiritual. It is about knowing Christ, trusting Christ, obeying Christ, and remaining in Christ.

False teaching wants to pull us away from the source of life. Truth calls us back to Jesus.

So as we finish this week's study, remember the progression: Know the truth. Recognize the lie. Reject the lie. Remain in Christ. Jesus is not merely part of the Christian life.

Jesus is the Christian life.

Prayer

Jesus, You are the true vine, and I need You every day. Help me remain connected to You and not be distracted by teachings, traditions, or pursuits that pull me away from You. Give me wisdom to recognize false teaching and courage to reject it. Help me know Your truth, live Your truth, and hold firmly to You. Amen.
