Don't Just Make Converts—Make Disciples
Paul gives us a powerful picture of Christian ministry: "We proclaim him, warning, and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone mature in Christ."
Paul wasn't satisfied with people simply hearing about Jesus. He wanted them to grow in Jesus. This is an important reminder for the church. Our responsibility doesn't end when someone comes to faith in Christ. We are called to help one another become mature followers of Jesus.
Someone helped you get where you are spiritually. Someone taught you. Someone encouraged you. Someone prayed for you. Someone answered your questions. Someone patiently walked beside you.
Now you have an opportunity to do the same for someone else. You don't have to be a pastor to disciple someone. You don't have to have a seminary degree. You simply need to know Christ and be willing to help someone else follow Him.
Think About It
Who has helped you grow spiritually?
Who is someone you could intentionally encourage and help grow in Christ?
Pray
Father, thank You for the people You have placed in my life who have helped me grow. Show me someone I can invest in. Give me patience, wisdom, and courage to encourage that person toward greater maturity in Christ. Help me become a disciple who makes disciples. Amen.
