The Head of the Church

Read: Colossians 1:18

"He is also the head of the body, the church..."

Yesterday we learned that Jesus Christ is not merely part of the church—He is its Head. Just as the head directs every part of the human body, Christ directs every aspect of His church. This means the church belongs to Him, takes its direction from Him, and exists for His glory.

As believers, we must continually ask ourselves, "Am I following Christ's direction, or am I following my own preferences?" A healthy church is made up of believers who joyfully submit to the authority of Christ.

Reflect:

• Is Jesus truly the authority in every area of my life?

• Am I contributing to the unity of Christ's body?

Prayer

Lord, thank You for being the Head of Your church. Help me to follow Your leadership with humility and obedience. Teach me to seek Your will above my own. Amen.
