God Uses Ordinary People

Ananias is one of the most fascinating people in the book of Acts. We know very little about him. He wasn't one of the apostles. He wasn't famous. He didn't write a book of the Bible. But God called him to do something incredibly important. He was told to go to Saul.

Think about that.

Saul was the man who had been persecuting Christians. Ananias had every reason to be afraid. But Ananias obeyed. And God used this ordinary servant to help prepare Paul for the extraordinary ministry God had planned for him.

There are countless faithful servants like Ananias throughout church history. People whose names we don't know. People who never stood behind a pulpit. People who never became famous. People who simply said yes when God gave them something to do.

The church needs people like that today. We need people who will teach children. People who will disciple teenagers. People who will encourage new believers. People who will share the Gospel. People who will pray. People who will serve behind the scenes. People who will give. People who will open their homes. People who will simply be faithful. You don't have to be extraordinary. You just have to be faithful.

Lord, I give myself to You. I may not be famous, gifted, wealthy, or extraordinary in the world's eyes. But I want to be faithful. Show me where I can serve. Give me courage to say yes when You call. Use my gifts, my time, my resources, and my life to advance the Gospel and build up Your church. Make me a faithful servant. Amen.
