Read Colossians 1:3-4
Devotional
Paul begins by thanking God for the Colossians because of their faith in Christ Jesus. Notice that he doesn't celebrate their wealth, influence, or accomplishments. He celebrates their faith. Genuine faith trusts Jesus completely and rests in His finished work rather than personal achievement. Faith is the foundation of the Christian life. It is through faith that we receive salvation, grow in grace, and persevere through difficulties.
God is pleased when His children trust Him completely and exclusively. Even when circumstances are uncertain, faith declares that Christ alone is enough.
Reflection Question
Where am I tempted to place my trust in something other than Christ?
Prayer Prompt
Lord, help me trust You more fully today. Strengthen my faith and teach me to depend on You in every circumstance.
